About "Fine Art" photography
To me, fine-art photography is a combination of light, and form, and some
aspect of the human experience. This transcends a mere representation of the
human form. In my work, I try to capture a unique expression of female beauty
and sensuality. Light, form, composition, and color, all play an important role in
creating this imagery. However, an equally important aspect is the expression
that a model projects into the composition as well. It is this unique expression,
(a bit of the essence of the model herself) that I attempt to capture. While I can
set the lights, create a set, and set the pose, it is the model's creativity and
expressiveness that in the end breathes life into my work. I approach each
photographic session with a quiet mind and open eyes, awake to the infinite
creative possibilities that each moment presents. What constitutes "Fine Art"
photography as opposed to other forms? For myself, is that when I look at the
finished image, I easily identify it as a piece I would see hanging on a gallery
wall, rather than something I would expect to find in a magazine ad.
My artistic passion is focused primarily on "Fine Art" and "Fine Art Nude"
photography. I photograph women because I am so inspired by the aesthetic
form of the female body. In my opinion, the female nude is the most compelling
and provocative; it is perhaps " la plus belle forme de la nature" (nature's finest
form).
Most of my work is done in the studio, where I can maintain control over,
and manipulate the lighting and atmosphere, to create the mood I want to
bring to the image. In my photographs, I try to capture the beauty of the nude
female form, just as the ancient Greek sculptors attempted to breathe life into
stone and draw out perfected human form. One of the most fascinating
aspects of the female form, is that each is different, and unique onto itself. I like
to look at my photography, as a celebration of that uniqueness. That difference
is what keeps me inspired. Each model seems to have her own special
qualities, so each shoot requires an open approach to accentuate what makes
her unique.
Through very soft illumination, my photographic technique allows the
character and sensitivity of the model to project onto the images in the finest
detail, without becoming overly graphic. Which in my eyes, is a major factor in
determining what is "Fine Art Nude" and what is just "Erotica"
I am able to then extend this effect, by digitally fine tuning the images, which
allows a further softening of any remaining harsh contrast.
About "Fine Art Nude" photography
Dans toute beauté de la nature, le plus photographié, est de beaucoup la forme
femelle.
(In all of nature's beauty, the most photographed by far, is that of the female form.)
